Confessions of an Esthetician
“There is nothing wrong with the love of Beauty. But Beauty — unless she is wed to something more meaningful — is always superficial” — Donna Tartt
Masters of maintaining beauty, some would say. I tend to agree with that notion.
To maintain is to: continue to have; to keep in existence, or not allow to become less –
Thus, in doing so an Esthetician must have the ability to recognize that we enhance beauty that is inherently already there.
It is to understand that beauty is everywhere and in everyone.
It is to see the beauty in yourself.
There are some concepts that prove much easier to digest in theory than in practice and this is one of them.
During the Covid-19 pandemic I experienced a revelation.
Makeup to me was not used as an enhancement to my appearance, it was a mask.
As soon as I began to exclusively focus on my skin, I began to see natural results.
As I began to love myself more and more, I began to see what was already there.
My skin became clearer, brighter, and healthier.
This turned into a catalyst for self-care in its entirety.
Makeup to me was no longer a mask, it became a tool to enhance features intentionally crafted.

Society constantly tells us to do more, to make more, to be more.
Society may tell us that we are too much, or not enough.
Without us realizing, that when we seek for more externally, we tell ourselves that we are not whole.
It can be a heartbreaking realization.
I have many clients that come in who feel the need to fit to a certain standard; hell, I use to feel like I needed to fit a certain standard.
It took some time for me to see that beauty was always within.
It does not compete.
It rediscovers and appreciates.
“Beauty does not compete. It rediscovers and appreciates”
And I do my best to let all my clients know the same.
No pressure. No judgement.
The ability to make you feel seen, heard (and have you look and feel AMAZING) is what I try my best to do.
So just remember you’re a baddie in real life!
