In the 1930s, we illegally deported 600,000 U.S. citizens because they had Mexican heritage
Laura Smith

As a mixed family, with American and Mexican citizens within the same nuclear family unit, who now travel freely between the two countries with ease, this period is shocking. I remember in the 70’s in LA la migra roamed the city taking undocumented folks off the sidewalk, often on their way to or from work, or right at their factory gate. Now Trump’s ICE is doing this again, even more aggressively. Thanks, Laura, for this evocative reminder.
