Hosting companies have some of the worst customer support practices. One thing I’ve learned over the years is to maintain my own remote backups. Regularly backing up live databases, files, etc. Never purchase a domain through a host as well, they’ll hold them ransom. The correct response is “What can we do that would entice you to change your review?” They don’t need to necessarily do it, but it’s a start.
I would also say, if they were to litigate, you probably have a counter suit for theft of intellectual property. Hosting companies do not own the files on the server that customers upload.
