And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. - Colossians 3:17

I was blessed to spend some time with a close friend and brother in the faith. As we caught up on what's been happening in each of our lives our conversation transitioned to the current state of events unfolding in our world.

One of the many blessings of this friendship is the mutual ability to view and compare all things through the lens of faith and how it applies to scripture for everyone.

We all face so many different challenges that seek to daily undermine our faith and trust in God. Some are so subtle and small but if left unchecked they can slowly chip away our foundation of confidence.

As we further discussed different approaches to deal with such events a recurring thought came to mind. "Do your best in all things for the Glory of God!"

But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. - Colossians 3:14

Does this mean it will be perfectly carried out each time? Not realistically but the good news is it's not solely about our responses but the intent of our heart to give glory to God in all things.

Anything that's done with the mindset of seeking to please and praise God above our personnel agenda. In the end, God desires to develop our character so that others can see him at work in and through us.

Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
-Colossians 3:12

We must all be on guard to not compare ourselves to others. God has given everyone special and unique gifts to serve in his kingdom here and now. We each have a role to carry out that works in a synchronistic fashion to make known his glorious and lavish redeeming love for all.

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
 1 Thessalonians 5:18
