But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33

We have read and heard this scripture quoted so many times but do we really take to heart what it says and how it implies to our lives according to God's holy words. It sounds simple to understand put God first and all your needs will be met. But living that out on a daily basis is another thing all together. I find myself struggling to find a balance as it is so easy to get caught up in the cares and concerns of this world. We all have responsabilities to our jobs and our family's and friends and God understands that. What I am still learning is what is our motivation behind what we do is more important than what we specifically do. God made us all with individual personalities and gifts and callings to carry out. But we get so caught up in the mind set of should I be doing this or not doing that and constantly worrying about every detail. I feel we should be doing whatever we do to the glory of God first as our motive to honor and please him first and as we continue to do so if our motives are off or become self centered the holy spirit will lead and direct us to make changes. Humility and a teachable spirit is key to overcome our weaknesses as well as knowledge of discerning his holy word and how to apply it. I heard it once said that Gods directs a moving ship better than one that is docked. I realize that statement is poor theology but if we truly seek to honnor him first in what we do I believe he will give us the desires of our hearts which is what he wants from us anyway and the rest he will work out thru us as we learn to surrender and trust more and become familiar with his ways
