Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal;
- Matthew 6:19

There is n old saying "You can't take it with you". We recognize this truth and yet we try to do what we would consider the next best thing which is to just try to gather a lifetime amount of wealth in a shorter time.

Please understand that it's not wrong to seek to gain financial security to help provide for your family and loved ones. Unfortunately, that desire becomes polluted more times than not by our default sinful nature which is never satisfied and thinks that more is always better.

Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.
- James 1:15

The key ingredient to understanding and overcoming this pitfall is to recognize it's a matter of the heart.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also - Matthew 6:21

We each have been given gifts by God intended to help further his kingdom here on earth. Sometimes that requires the use of money to help bring them about.

But our overall focus should be one that's inviting God of our own free will to be the center of those pursuits so that our efforts are grounded in pleasing him first knowing he will give us what we need to achieve them.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you - Matthew 6:33

Our true self-worth and status is not based on temporary wealth and circumstances but in our relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ. He is the lead manager of the banks of heaven which contain more gold and riches than we could ever imagine.

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus - Philippians 4:19

When we by faith place our trust in Jesus for salvation we grant him permission to do wonderful and glorious things in and through us by his power and mercy. This one act of humility on our part secures our future that will never fade or be taken away.

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also - John 14:3

Have you invested yourself in his bountiful kingdom?
