For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. - 2 Timothy 1:7

We all struggle with fear at some point in our lives. The key is not allowing it to take root in our lives which can cause problems down the road. This is one of Satan's great tools against us if we allow it. Fear is not always bad as it can protect us at times but its what we do with it that becomes an issue based on how we react. It even appears Jesus dealt with fear as he was praying in the Garden of Gethsemani asking God to take his cup from him because he knew he was about to endure torture and crucifixion. And for the first time ever be killed, sent to hell and be separated from communicating with with God. And as a result, he began to sweat blood. From the next line of the scripture, God gives us three things to combat the fear head on so that we can be victorious. 1.) Power- he will not leave us alone but he has already given us the power to overcome or discern our fears and the ability to take action in order to overcome them. 2.) Love- everything God does is based out of love and not fear, so anything that is based on fear comes from Satan so we can recognize the difference and react accordingly. Sound mind- The holy spirit is the one who helps us to know how to react and separates the truth from the lies using his holy word stored in our hearts to direct our paths. So next time you are faced with fear use these three tools found in this scripture to help win the victory over fear.
