He reached down from heaven and rescued me; he drew me out of deep waters. He rescued me from my powerful enemies, from those who hated me and were too strong for me. - Psalm 18:16-17

Have you ever felt as if you were thrown in the midst of the ocean where the waves are crashing all around you and there is no sign of help or rescue on the horizon?

This is how David felt as he was overwhelmed by many troubles and fearful his enemies would overtake him.

He cried out to God for help and was delivered and given hope to trust the Lord would continue to do so as long as he was faithful to serve him.

David used the example of feeling surrounded by deep waters and that his enemies were too strong to overcome, kind of like crashing waves.

God promises he will protect us from harm but that does not mean we will not face troubles on our journey. We can be assured that he hears our cries for help

When we find ourselves in the midst of deep waters we can trust God will throw us a life preserver to sustain us from being overtaken.

He will rescue us but it's not always immediately as he is working out the circumstances behind the scenes according to his plans.

We can take comfort in the fact that he wants what's best for us and knows exactly the specific needs. But he doesn't stop after the rescue, but he also follows up with a specific critical care protocol that helps in the healing process.

So next the you feel overwhelmed and alone in deep waters. Hold on to his life preserving word knowing he will rescue you according to his promises which are faithful and true.
