Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. - James 4:10

Humility is a quality that is vital in the life of a follower of Christ. It single-handedly can determine the impact that one can have in regards to being a living example of hope and encouragement to those around them.

This quality gets overlooked it seems today. Even amongst believers, it can become a challenge to not get caught up in the web of self-interest and lose sight of serving others as God has called us to.

Apart from God and his loving mercy, we are filthy rags fit for disposal. But with the living God reigning from within us we are transformed into vessels of great worth.

Jesus is our great example of humility to which we can learn to be just like him and partake in his victorious endeavors.
He humbled himself before God and was willing to sacrifice everything so that we could be redeemed from the curse of sin and death.

He never once exalted himself above anyone. He spoke openly proclaiming he came to do the will of his heavenly father who sent him.

The amazing thing is as he submitted himself in humility before God he in return was given great strength and freedom to do mighty works of righteousness to build up others for the sake of the kingdom of heaven.

We too can have this power available to us if we can learn to walk in humility before our God. What appears as weakness in the eyes of the world becomes our strength and firm foundation.

That power breaks every chain and sets the captives free by his mercy and grace. Will you humble your self so that his power is made perfect in and thru you?
