In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that
holy Spirit of promise - Ephesians 1:13

In ancient times kings placed official wax or clay seal signet on documents. It signified authenticity, authority, and ownership. To go against any such decree was met with grave consequence and was inescapable.

Spiritually speaking when we sincerely place our trust in Jesus for salvation we are sealed by God until the day of our specific redemption. At that moment the spirit of God is placed within us like a seal of ownership that can only be opened by the king himself.

2 Corinthians 1:22 - who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Contrary to many doctrines taught in the church, we are eternally secure when it comes to salvation. Yes, we are still accountable for our actions and choices from that moment on but not at the loss of salvation but more about our rewards from faithful service.

1 Corinthians 3:12-15. - Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

This does not give us a license to sin as we please even though at times we do that very thing. Our salvation can not be revoked as we did nothing to earn it but simply trust in it.

Ephesians 2:8 - For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

Once a gift is given by God he can not take it back as it would violate his character and make him a liar which is impossible for him to do.

Titus 1:2 - In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began

I pray you are encouraged by this hope and challenged to put forth your best as an ongoing act of thanksgiving to our king for such a lavish gift.

Have you placed your faith in this glorious gift?
