Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
- Matthew 5:16

Every day we experience light which rules the day until the evening arrives and ushers in darkness. It's only natural we take for granted this process that has such a major impact on everything we do.

It continues seamlessly in the background illuminating all things good and bad. Many forms of light shine brightly and yet are unseen or overlooked as if it's almost invisible to the casual eye.

The kind of light I'm referring to is the character of a person who humbly serves the Lord. If you examine the qualities of these individuals you will find they shine brightly by their actions but remain hidden so as to not draw attention to themselves.

Proverbs 4:18 - But the path of the just is like the shining sun, That shines ever brighter unto the perfect day.

Their focus is on their cause and desire to capture the attention of a chosen few.
This is the example that God desires from us on this journey we call life.

God is looking for willing vessels to become beacons of light and help guide others to him like a lighthouse guides a ship to the shore during a mighty storm.

Philippians 2:15 - that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

His light gives hope to those trapped in darkness but because he can not be seen with physical eyes we are invited to become his ambassadors of light.

Titus 3:7 - that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

It's been said that light is one of the most powerful natural detergents that can purify a whole host of unclean substances when it's exposed to its powerful rays.

Likewise, the light of Jesus can transform any wayward sinner from the inside out making them spiritually clean before him. Jesus takes our darkness and creates a light of his love in our hearts that grows with our obedience to his word.

1 John 1:7 - But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

Have you allowed his light to shine through you?
