Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts. And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. - Psalm 139:23-24

Have you ever done something wrong without giving it any thought at that moment and later wondered why did I do that?

Unfortunately, the reason behind such instances is the sinful state of our hearts.

The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

Unlike King David, we are blessed in this current time period to have full access to the grace of God with complete assurance of salvation and forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace - Ephesians 1:7

At the moment of salvation, we are spiritually made perfect in his sight and sealed until the day of redemption. That does not apply to our physical or mental state as spoken earlier in Jeremiah.

We must spend time aligning our faculties with the word of God by the process of sanctification. It's by no means automatic and by default is in total opposition to conform to anyone's will but our own.

The good news is we have the ability to change this narrative but it requires a willingness to not only surrender our ways but also invite him into those areas so that changes can be made.

This is the challenge we all must face daily to admit we can not live it out on our terms. We must allow him to search those hidden places with a microscope and be willing to respond when he reveals them to us.

God knows us better than we know ourselves but he will not force us to take part in his plans unless we actively submit our will and embrace the changes required to take on his likeness by our obedience.

Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
Romans 6:13
