The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. - Psalm 28:7

Have you ever had a day when things in your life seem blah? Not bad but not particularly good either. These are the times when we must press in and seek the shelter of the Lord and his promises for us found in his holy word. I learned many years ago that we can not live the Christian life based on our feelings alone otherwise we can get into trouble or be deceived. But God has given us emotions and feelings for a reason and it's our job to police them.We are to examine them and see if they are the result of God speaking to us by getting our attention. Or maybe we have wandered off the path a bit because we have gotten carried away with the cares or concerns of this world. Either way it good to know we can stand on the promises of Gods word regardless of how we feel at any given moment. Finding a quiet place to seek God and pour out your heart to him in prayer for direction. Sometimes we just need to be still and allow God to direct the holy spirit within us for wisdom or to simply be still and quiet. Jesus spent a lot of time in prayer and it was not always about getting answers. There is an intimate place where we can come into his presence with no request or needs and just sit at his feet in silence. Many times he speaks to us things we could not hear if we were to busy. Other times he simply wants to refresh us and give us strength for the journey ahead. From these special moments, our joy can be restored and our resolve reignited. So next time you feel blah, seek shelter under the shield of the Lord and trust in his promises spoken to you and know he is in control.
