First things first: the worst movie soundtrack of all time is Clueless. Glad that’s out of the way.

To compile the below list, the following apply:

Has to be majority “pop” or otherwise modern music songs; not orchestral, mood music.

Weighted soundtracks that either had music created specifically for the movie or were comprised of songs that were not huge on their own.

Weighted soundtracks from the days before Napster/Spotify ubiquity where you could create your own mixtape with a click of a mouse.

I also discounted movies that featured songs from different eras, which eliminates the Tarantino movies/Rushmore, etc. Because it’s a period piece, Velvet Goldmine is exclude; because it’s mostly current music, Trainspotting makes the cut.

  • I hold out possibility that I made 1 or 2 egregious errors; if I change anything, I will denote below.

Tied for 15. New Jack City, Tank Girl, Hackers, Mortal Kombat, Sliver

14. The Craft

13. Romeo & Juliet

12. Great Expectations

11. Clerks

10. Boyz In the Hood

9. The Saint

8. Judgment Night

7. Magnolia

6. Singles

5. Trainspotting

4.Higher Learning

3. Rocky IV

2. The Crow

1. Juice
