I read the memo. Well written, PRO-diversity. You wrote TLDR which suggests you didn’t read the memo. Is that the case, that you are responding to some kind of summary?

Glad to see you used quotes around “anti diversity”. Do you have any idea where that description came from for a memo that repeatedly argues FOR diversity and has a section on how to achieve it?

I have to assume it was invented by ideologues to stir up an emotional reaction and to cast his memo as evil. I don’t live in the ideological bubble of Google or of postmodernist-Marxism that permeates academia, but I do recognise witch hunts like this.

You and the memo author are a very intelligent and with an engineering background you both probably understand statistics. He demonstrated this in his graph showing overlapping populations and high lighting the error of using the non overlapping averages of those curves. It would appear that you and he agree on this, but for some reason you write as if you disagree and as if he is misunderstanding something fairly basic.

Specifically, your suggestion that what he wrote would annoy 32% of the readers. Why? Why would quoting, and quoting accurately, the research on sex differences annoy anyone other than a brainwashed ideologue?

He wasn’t saying that women are unsuited to tech (another totally false claim that many are promulgating), he was merely quoting established, highly supported, evidence that the number of women who are INTERESTED in being engineers is less than the number of men interested in being engineers. Why would that annoy anyone other than a postmodernist-Marxist ideologue?

I can understand the ‘Diversity officer’ being angry because her job could be at stake if people use actual science on the conjecture of postmodernist-Marxist theory. I can understand that many of the employees were indoctrinated in that theory for much of their education and all they know is to shout down and fire anyone who questions the ideology.

Those of us who went through education before this pernicious ideology took over academia just see an insane ideology which uses shaming, insulting and firing to shut up ‘blasphemy’.

Those of us who are not infected laugh at Google as it denies science just like creationists.

I suspect that you and the memo author probably agree on almost everything, but that you haven’t had time to study what he actually wrote.

If it did turn out that say x% of women want to be engineers and 2x% of men want to be engineers — why would that be a problem for the x% of women? Why would they be offended by that? And IF it were true why should Google try to persuade more women to get into it? Is there something wonderful about social engineering people into work they don’t want to do?
