Cookies
Final Idea
The final idea for my cookie is a peanut butter banana blossom cookie. The idea was to take one of my favorite Christmas cookies a peanut butter blossom and exchanging the hershey kiss for banana and chia seeds. The changes makes the cookies nutritious yet delicious. It is creative in taking an already great cookie and changing the flavor to have a fruity taste. The flavor of peanut butter, banana, and chia seeds is not unheard of but I have never seen it in a cookie and online I couldn’t find a combination of the three that I envisioned in a cookie so I thought it was creative

Recipe
1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp baking soda
1 egg
2 Tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 3/4 cup flour
1/8 cup chia seeds
2 bananas
Bake 350 degrees for 10–12 min and place the banana slice on top immediately after the cookies come out of the oven
Idea Generation
The inspiration behind my cookie ideas was based off of what things I like for example popcorn, what foods go together, or what would I put together that may be gross but would eat in a race. I decided to go with the popcorn cookie and peanut butter banana cookie. These stuck out as things that I could picture how to make in my head and thought there might be a chance that they would be good tasting.

Idea Test 1
My first idea was to make a popcorn cookie, the idea was to make a chocolate chip based cookie with popcorn kernels in it that would pop in the oven. A popcorn kernel pops at 450 degrees Fahrenheit so I figured if I baked the cookie at that temperature the kernel would pop.

The original Idea of the kernel popping in the oven was unsuccessful so I ended up popping the kernel. I’m assuming the kernel in the cookie created too much pressure that the kernel would not pop. See the iteration for more details on getting to the final product seen in the picture. The kernels ended up getting a bit browned on the tips but overall didn’t taste bad
recipe
2 1/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup butter
3/4 sugar
3/4 brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups popped popcorn
Bake 375 degrees F
Idea Test 2
Peanut butter banana chia seed cookies. See Final idea for recipe
The idea was to make a cookie that was like what my breakfast is normally like. Peanut butter toast with a banana is known to be a good combination so throw in some chia seeds and there a power packed delicious cookie right there. I knew about the peanut butter cookie from Christmas cookies and figured I could mix in some chia seeds without harm. Then put a banana slice on top.

The cookies turned out well the first try and tasted good as well. I decide to have this be my final idea because they tasted well.
Iteration
I had to do many iterations on the popcorn cookie.
I initially tried to place the un popped kernels into the cookies.

The kernels didn’t pop so I tried making holes in the cookie and rubbing the kernels with oil before dropping them in the holes, with the hope that the relieved pressure would help them be able to pop as well as touching the bottom of the pan.

When the cookie baked it just came together and covered the holes before the kernels could pop. I threw loose kernels in on the side as seen in the picture and those did pop so it was hot enough. I was forced to pop the popcorn beforehand and then place it onto the cookies so it would work

These cookies ended up baking alright at 375 degrees F but didn’t end up tasting all that good.
