Welcome Email- The First You’ll Send Your Leads
People have visited your website or capture page and decided to subscribe to your newsletter or download some content which in return, they offered their emails. If you’ve gotten that lead through a capture page (page where you offer highly valuable content for free or very cheap- Just like this one right here) with a lead magnet to download, then you need to send them a welcome email with the content inside.
This doesn’t mean that if they subscribe to your newsletter, they don’t get a welcome email. Welcome emails are extremely important because they have the same exact job as a headline or subject line, it’s the first of many that your lead will be receiving, and you’ve got to make sure everything is perfect about it before you even get the leads.
I always make sure I have my automated emails perfect before attracting traffic to my website or capture page. It may seem like the opposite way to do it, but if you create free content to download and the prospect downloads it but doesn’t receive an email because you haven’t yet sorted it out, its highly unlikely that they ever open your emails and will probably unsubscribe.
Elements of A Welcome Email
An Introduction! In a welcome email you have to welcome your leads. As easy as that! Introduce yourself to them, what is your name? Make the email come from a human not a robot. Sign your name at the end of it so that your leads know you wrote it personally.
Set Expectations. As you may have read in my recent free eBook, you must inform your prospects how often they should expect from you. Tell them that you will work hard to make sure they benefit from every content you will offer them and tell them very subtly that you may be sending promotional emails (if you’re an affiliate marketer). Listen, your leads are more excited to hear from you now than they’ll ever be! Take that opportunity to spill the tea and tell them everything they nees to know.
End With Cliff Hangers. Tension creates attention people. Your subscribers want to know the bottom-line. But your best emails will leave your prospects on the edge of their seats waiting for the next email. Say something like, “Be on the lookout for an email from me in the next few days where I will release my number 1 most effective method to lose weight successfully.” Not only will this make your prospects excited, it will also increase your open and click rates because they will be opening all of your emails to see if you have sent that content yet or not.
Restate The Benefits. What are the benefits they will receive from my emails? Figure this out and make a list of them. Filter all the benefits to the best 2 or 3 and include them in your welcome email. Always aim to build excitement in your emails and this is a crucial way to do so.
Automating The Welcome Email
1. First of all you need to write a welcome email. You can just write it on paper or document to save it until you create a capture page.
2. Create a capture page where you will add a lead magnet in return for people’s emails. You can do this very easily at any funnel builder but I use HBA Funnel Builder and highly recommend it. It makes building pages, websites, stores, carts and payment methods very easy and its also very cheap compared to other platforms.
3. You need an autoresponder, which is a platform that will allow you to send emails to several people, I always recommend GetResponse, Aweber and ActiveCampaign because they have less restrictions compared to other autoresponders and they’ve got really good automations. They also integrate with the HBA Funnel Builder.
Finish all the setups and then paste your welcome email at the ‘automations’ tab in the autoresponder platform (See image below).

4. Link the capture page with the welcome email. In the automation tab (as seen above) on any autoresponder platform you will be able to create an automation so that once a contact subscribes to your list, the welcome email is instantly sent to them.

NOTE: In order to do that you need a funnel builder that can integrate with your autoresponder. HBA Funnel Builder can do this very easily.
