This article resonates with me hugely. And I really want to thank you for writing this. Since my daughter was born I’ve had to force myself to go out and do activities even though I’m so conscious of my body. My daughter is 6 and like yours a bundle of energy and joy — she likes playing in the park, running riot through soft play and swimming — and she loves these things best when I do them with her. So I have. Because she needs to see that I am happy and confident and healthy. And because sees me as her beautiful mama — even though I can’t see that myself.
If it helps, from a stranger on the internet, you are not alone. I’ve been that fat single mum trying to do the best for her daughter. I hope you both have a magical trip — it sounds like exactly the holiday we would do too! She’ll never forget the time and attention and love you’re giving her. You are a wonderful mum. x
