5 Reasons You Should Be Using Facebook Live

Facebook recently released the ability to film video in real-time called Facebook Live. Depending on how great your content is, videos have the potential to reach over a millions views.

Yes, this new feature is exactly what Periscope is, a live video platform. But here’s the difference — Facebook has over a billion monthly users.

Here are five reasons why I believe adding Facebook Live to your business strategy is worth it:

1. You can reach new viewers.

When you are setting up Facebook Live, you can share the video chat with your friends OR you can make it public. By choosing public, your video has the opportunity to reach more than your current friends/followers.

2. Users will receive notifications when you host a Facebook Live.

Friends and followers will receive a notification alert when you are currently hosting a Facebook Live video and 8 times out of 10, people check them often. If they don’t receive a notification, there is a ‘follow’ button they can click on within your live video to receive a notification next time.

3. Viewers can react and comment in real-time.

People will be able to comment and like or “react” to your video as it’s happening, making it the ultimate engagement tool. Answer viewers’ questions and comments as soon as they come in, it will help keep the conversation going.

4. Live video helps your brand/business achieve authenticity.

People are more likely to pay attention to a brand or business if it’s authentic and approachable. Using Facebook Live gives you that benefit — it allows you to be more personal with users than a fully edited video would be.

5. Video will stay on your Facebook page or profile.

When you finish the live video, it will automatically stay on your profile or page and give you the option to save the video to your camera roll.

Facebook Live Content Ideas:

1. Conduct interviews or Q&A’s.

By not having the option to edit the video, your interview will come off authentic and “in the moment.” It’s helpful to have a loose plan or script, but don’t over-do it. Personally, I would tune in to a Facebook Live interview before a fully edited one on YouTube.

2. Share your talents!

Whether your talent is creating music, tattooing a client, showing off your soccer skills on the field or sharing tips on closing a real estate deal, Facebook Live can grab new and interested users that haven’t heard of you yet.

3. Releasing a new product or announcing an upcoming event.

Think of this as the new and improved press release! Facebook Live gives you the option to capture excitement from users and answer their questions at the same time. You may even attract media with your video.

4. Are you a fashion or travel blogger?

Share a live video of a trip to your favorite boutique and tell viewers how to find the best deals. If you’re traveling, share a live video of that epic deep sea fishing excursion you’re currently enjoying.
