8 Snapchat Content Ideas That Your Fans Will Love
If you want to use Snapchat but are struggling to come up with content ideas, have no fear — I’m a social media expert, content marketing ninja and digital marketing guru who’s here to help!
This list was inspired by a similar post by Social Media Examiner, but the thought-starters below are 100% mine (and definitely not my agency’s, nope, they’re in no way affiliated with this post).
#1: Follow a Clown Into the Forest
Has a clown been beckoning to you to join him at his hut in the woods, even offering you money in exchange for your company? Follow him — but don’t forget to document your adventure in your Snapchat Story!
#2: Talk to a Girl Wearing Headphones
Women who wear headphones aren’t impossible to approach, you just have to try a little harder to get their attention. Test out the tips and tricks in that Modern Man article that’s making the rounds, and show your followers what works!
#3: Eat a Ham Sandwich
Everyone eats, but very rarely do we share or discuss our personal strategies and techniques. Do you eat the edges of your sandwich first, working your way toward the middle? Do you peel back each layer of ham, lettuce, cheese and tomato, slowly savoring each one? Do you hate ham? Great! Your answers to these questions will make great Snapchat content.
#4: Arrange a Takeover
After you show your followers how you eat a ham sandwich, they’ll know pretty much everything they need to know about you — so at this point, it’s best to hand your Snapchat password off to a friend to provide a new and surprising perspective on life.
#5: Reenact the Violent Fate of Barb from ‘Stranger Things’
On Snapchat, there’s no such thing as a ‘trigger warning’ or a ‘spoiler alert,’ which makes it a great place to ruin things like popular TV shows. Find a swimming pool and a shitty girlfriend who will ditch you for a cute boy, then figure out a creative way to make yourself disappear into the abyss.
#6: Share Your Brand’s Official POV on Donald Trump’s Trip to Mexico
We all know that brands are living, breathing things with thoughts and opinions, but unfortunately we rarely get to share them. Luckily for you, Snapchat is ephemeral and nothing you post there will ever live on after its expiration date, so you can use it to promote your brand’s perspective on controversial topics in real-time, without even going through legal.
#7: Create a Geofilter for Someone Else’s Event
No one has the time, money or energy to put on an event, but still, people and brands do it anyway — so you should steal their thunder by figuring out when a whole bunch of people will be in one place and setting up a Geofilter for the event time and location. You’ll get lots of brand awareness with none of the work — only the time it takes you to create a Geofilter and enter your credit card information.
#8: Plan Something Big for 9/11
It’s important for brands to chime in on how important it is to #NeverForget the tragedy that happened on September 11, 2001, but the tweets and Facebook posts are starting to feel a little redundant. However, Snapchat is a relatively new platform with lots of different content options, from Lenses to Geofilters, so it’s worth a second thought as you’re planning your content for this big day.
