Dot's Cafe
This weekend my folks were in town so we wanted to do a nacho review together. They weren’t actually able to write their review for me, but I’ll summarize on their behalf. They don’t eat a lot of nachos but found this super fun and enjoyed the experience immensely.
We decided to walk (about 1.5 miles) to Dot’s Cafe and check out the Division/Clinton Street Fair happening on Saturday. Dot’s a really cute, hole-in-the-wall place. I walked by it the first time because there’s not even a sign. I love the dark lighting and funky decor. They have good drinks (house made Sangria, anyone?!) and lots of food choices. Even vegan options! And they have a great happy hour (which includes nachos!). We opted for the nachos with pulled pork verde. Even though I don’t like meat on my nachos typically, this was delicious.

The Verdict:

Nacho Expert (That’s me, obviously): Dot’s is a fun place you should definitely visit. And I would totally recommend the nachos!
Pros: The cheese tasted exceptionally good. I’m not sure why it was so good, but it was baked to perfection and tasted amazing. The pork was tender and flavorful (although, I wish it had been green and dripping in verde sauce). The price was right at only $5 on happy hour and not bad during sad hours either ($8.50). There were a lot of toppings; I even got a couple glorious chips incredibly weighed down with toppings. I don’t normally review on presentation, but these are pretty to look at.
Cons: While the drizzled sour cream is attractive, I prefer a giant glob. I think the drizzle gives you less sour cream in the long run. There were also no beans on the nachos. There were a ton of toppings though so I didn’t miss it too much. I wonder what it would have been like had we ordered the add on of beans and meat. Amazing, I bet.
Official score on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = Horrible, but better than no nachos at all. 10 = Holy Shit, my life is complete.): 6/10
