Ray’s Capitol Grille (Laos)
Located on the 10th floor rooftop in a fancy-ish hotel in Vientiane, Laos, sits Ray’s Capitol Grille, home to the best nachos in Asia. Don’t believe me? Keep reading.
I’ve tried dozens of nachos across 4 Asian countries and am usually disappointed to some extent. While Ray’s isn’t perfect, their nachos are the closest I’ve come to the cheesy, beany, topping overflowing nachos of Portland bars. If they sold them in the US, I’d buy them. Probably.

The Verdict:
It was love at first sight with these nachos. I ordered the small for 45,000 kip (about $5) but was shocked when I saw the huge plate before me. And not big just in size but it topping heaven, as well.
A couple huge pros that set these nachos apart from the rest of Asia: tons of jalapeños. Tons! Tons of melted cheese, real cheddar cheese (I think). Holy mother of god, REFRIED BEANS! The chips were not anything special but they were good and the closest I’ve seen to corn tortilla chips. They were quite greasy though, which I kind of liked at times, let’s be honest. These nachos came with ground beef which I should have requested removed but it turned out ok. I’ll probably be sick tonight though because my body’s not used to this much dairy anymore. 😂 Worth it.
I never expected to find the best nachos in Laos (hell, I could only find like 3 places that even sold them) But there you have it kids, Vientiane knows their nachos. Just an hour flight from Hanoi and you can have your fix (with an awesome city view to boot!).
Official score on a scale of 1 to 10 (1 = Horrible, but better than no nachos at all. 10 = Holy Shit, my life is complete.): 8/10
