Your post was really interesting and as someone not involved in the military brought up a whole new view on socialization for me. Travelling and getting to experience all different kinds of cultures and their norms and values sounds so interesting and I’m sure socialized you in some ways even if you didn’t adapt to them 100% as your own, which is another interesting perspective to socialization I hadn’t thought of before.
