Malpractice Suit

While presenting the argument in representation of McNicholls, lawyer William Hamilton suffered a heart attack. In a twist of events, the two doctors present in the courtroom took action and saved Hamilton’s life.

Alumni Festival

Lead: Liberty University’s Alumni Association is planning a spring festival in the hopes of raising proceeds to donate to the school’s library, although the date is still tentative.

2nd Paragraph: The festival, set to take place in April, will be complete with games, contests, lunch, and an exhibition baseball game. Alumni president Bobby Don Willis stated, “This kind of activity is one of the positive things we can do to make Liberty University a better educational institution.” The date will depend on whether or not The Flames make it to the playoffs.

Protest

Lead: A group is protesting against the secular teachings of a biology professor at Liberty University, planning to lead a group of 25 dedicated Christians to the state capital next week.

2nd Paragraph: Wilbur Straking, pastor of the Ever-Faithful Church of the Living Water, is leading a protest against the secular teachings of Associate Professor of Biology Laura Cliff. Straking stated, “We believe the teaching of evolution is against the principles of this Christian country, and we want to put a stop to it.” Neither Cliff nor Liberty University’s president Jerry Falwell, Jr. would not comment on the subject.

Lawsuit

Lead: A woman filed a lawsuit worth $100,000 against Amburn’s Produce Market, charging them with negligence after suffering from injuries, expenses, and lost income.

2nd Paragraph: On April 1 of this year, Ellie Maston slipped and broke her hip after walking through green beans left on the floor. She is now suing Amburn’s Produce Market for $100,000. The suit says she “suffered permanent bodily and mental injuries, incurred medical expenses and lost income.”

Agreement Announced

Lead: The president of a local steel company has made a collective bargaining agreement with the president of the local steelworkers union, with a meeting and announcement to be held tonight.

2nd Paragraph: Clyde Parris, president of Ambrose Steel Company, and Charles Pointer, president of United Steelworkers Local 923, have agreed on a contract including a “substantial wage agreement.” As a result, the strike that was set for midnight has been called off. Had the strike continued, production at Ambrose would have stopped and 457 steelworkers would have been laid off.
