I often wonder if sometimes that hate and shame and racism is projected out , and because people feel this way about themselves, they assume we feel the same way.

I don’t think that this is necessarily why minorities might feel that way — it’s certainly possible, and an intriguing concept — but it certainly might be why we perceive that hate, or judgement, or prejudice, or racism might be there in interactions with others when it may not be there. That inward shame and hate is often projected toward minorities and can be internalized by minorities in a way that causes the same bias and prejudice to be reflected back at the majority group.
