Why This Radical Leftist is Disillusioned by Leftist Culture
Bailey Lamon

I have mixed feelings about this piece. While I agree that there is certainly too much posing by “activists,” I do not discourage the analysis ascribed to the “activist culture.” And I agree the superior attitude is not becoming — but neither is the impunity with which those with the power treat those at the bottom of society.

You are correct that the majority of the oppressed are not thinking in the terms you discuss (though, to be fair, in my work with the homeless I am frequently amazed by how studied and articulate about these concepts some of the people are,) but where the concepts need constant iteration is with the power structure. Those who benefit from the inequalities and the systemic injustice need constant interaction and dialog to bring them to the realization that it is they who have the problem, not the persons of color, or the woman and child on the street, or the trans woman.
