Chuck Wendig, a blogger, novelist, game designer, and screenwriter, argues against young adult fiction being a genre and provides some key traits of such works. Wendig exaggerates many of his points in order to create an interesting argument in this satrical blog post. Additionally, he uses colorful language and examples of teenage life in order to get his point across. Wendig intends this blog post to clear some confusion and misconceptions about young adult fiction.

Cory Doctorow is a science fiction author and journalist who presents pressing social injustices through video games. Doctorow presents issues such as labor rights in a young adult novel. To pass on the lessons presented in the novel he relies heavily on relatable characters and real world settings. Doctorow’s main intent of this novel is to educate young adults about the importance of standing up for what you believe in no matter the opposition.

Cory Doctorow, a science fiction blogger and author, reveals the importance and popularity of the young adult genre. Doctorow shines light on the young adult genre in an analytical blog post. In his post, Doctorow states data, quotes from authors, and cases where young adult fiction’s success in order to show the importance of this genre. Doctorow wrote his post in order to give young adult fiction the recognition and praise it deserves while inspiring other authors to contribute to this important genre.

Book Country, a website devoted to information on literature, shows the separation along with similarities between fiction and young adult fiction. A genre map visual is used in order to show the distinct characteristics of each. Each of the genres have a description followed by a list of subgenres and novels that fit within the specified genre. The main purpose of the genre map is to educate it’s readers about the various genres and the traits that make up each.

RAINN is an informational website providing current statistics on sexual assault. The page about statistics is a non fiction, graphical representation of current statistics. The author uses graphics and statistics in order to make aware of the occurance of sexual assault in the United States of America. This website is meant to not only educate but to provide a resource to reach out for help for victims.
