2014 was quite a year for user experience design - Google unveiled Material Design, Apple released phones with bigger screens and announced the Apple Watch, there were a ton of prototyping tools released, Sketch became a viable Photoshop replacement, and everyone had an opinion on the hamburger menu icon.
