Excellent stuff Mark. Hard to overstate how right the headline is for any business. Peter Drucker said “What gets measured gets done.” One of the most dangerous management mantras ever coined. Either what gets measured gets reported ie the metrics are manipulated to give a false impression. Or by focusing on the wrong numbers the business actually does the wrong thing as in your examples.
