The Sell — Fredrik Eklund (Book #6)

Penned, written, stories told by a real estate agent who peaked my interest in the industry and from whom i learnt a lot in the TV Series Million Dollar Listings and from whom I excitedly went out and purchase the book, when I found out it was released.

Personal & Authentic are some of the words that come to mind when exploring through the pages of this book. Granted, that’s how most books are but the personality driven down by this author in particular, got to me. Reading it is an enjoyment, and finding out more things about an industry that I’m particularly interested in, spoke volumes to this intrigued reader.

Basically, the book packs practical advice for anyone seeking to thrive out there, and also details the ways and days that this gentlemen does it. One of the quotes that I thought was best was,

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who matter won’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” -NOT Dr. Seuss

This was dished out early in the book, and what came after were more valuable thoughts on how to sell anything at all, starting with yourself. The book teaches you the value of hard work and actually putting in the effort to look good, both for yourself and your surroundings.

Pick up the book for a good afternoon of storytelling, paired with good amount of humor, and learning a thing or two about setting yourself up for success (one day at a time) and the art of selling (yourself and then the rest) and negotiating (getting the upper hand and winning the deal).

Without going into much detail, I wouldn’t be able to explain the contents of this book aptly, but what I can entail is that the book leaves you with steps you can take to improve yourself today in any area (mostly your life), being confident, charismatic, knowledgeable, and actually conquering the table/room/hall. A brief description of the book is as follows, as my review comes to an end,

Ten years ago, Fredrik Eklund moved to New York City from Sweden with nothing but a pair of worn-out sneakers and a dream: to make it big in the city that never sleeps. Since then, he’s ascended to the top of the most competitive real estate market on the planet, brokering million-dollar deals for celebrities, selling out properties all over the city, and starring in the Bravo hit Million Dollar Listing New York.
In The Sell, Fredrik shares his secrets to success, offering a step-by-step plan for anyone to persuade, influence, and convince others to buy what you’re selling, whether it’s million-dollar properties, an idea to your boss, or
paninis on the street. Even if you don’t realize it, Fredrik says you’ve been in sales your whole life because every day — no matter your line of work — you are selling your most important asset: yourself.
In this fun and practical guide, Fredrik explores everything from the importance of being genuine to getting people to trust you to looking like a million bucks even if you don’t have a million bucks…yet! He also shares his tips and tricks for crafting the perfect pitch, negotiating with savvy, and closing deals, whether it’s for an actual product, your big idea, or getting your profile noticed on eHarmony.

Kenrick writes down his thoughts about books he reads mainly as a reminder to self on what the book meant to him or impacted him on and he seeks to one day share it with people equally interested in reading the book, all in good spirit of constant learning and self development.
