Well, why don’t we just look at the actual numbers —compare cash thrown at American “poor” and the cost of the wars. In 2012,

…government at all levels … spen[t] more than $952 billion …to fight poverty. To put this in perspective, the defense budget [in 2012], including spending for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, total[ed] $685 billion.

So…..eradicate poverty by throwing cash? Nope. Doesn’t work.
