5 Reasons You Should Play Deep Rock Galactic

Deep Rock Galactic is a sci-fi cooperative first-person shooter developed by Danish studio Ghost Ship Games. You and up to three friends play as space dwarf miners working for an asteroid mining company, Deep Rock Galactic. As you embark upon various missions to gather minerals, and in some instances strange egg-type things, you must defend yourselves from a myriad of creepy crawlies. So why should you be playing Deep Rock Galactic? Here are 5 reasons!

  1. Kicking Barrels

Okay, hear me out here. I understand kicking barrels may seem an odd way to start this list, but Deep Rock Galactic does a strangely good job of making it addictive. They even have a mini-game in the hub that can be found in the bar area, where you kick barrels through a moving hoop to score points. You can annoy your corporate overlords, by kicking a barrel into the launch bay.

2. Space Football

Yep, you read that right. You and your friends can set up goals in the hub and kick around a giant football instead of performing your duties as a miner. The hologram goals even keep score for you! Yet another great way to rile up your boss.

3. The Classes

There are four Deep Rock Galactic classes: the gunner, the engineer, the scout, and the driller. Each class has different equipment that aids them in filling their role within a team. The gunner, for example, is armed with a Gatling gun to easily dispatch enemies; the scout has a personal zipline to effectively traverse the often cavernous terrain. The variation between classes will make sure you don’t get bored.

4. Resource Management

Deep Rock Galactic does a great job of keeping resources at the front of your mind. To stop you from running out of ammo during the many swarms that approach you, you must mine Nitra. This red glowing mineral is what you use to call down resupply pods. This mechanic makes for thrilling fights as you near the bottom of your ammo stock.

5. Missions

The missions will have you doing anything from straightforward mining of Morkite, creating complex pipelines, and hunting down strange eggs contained within gross-looking and mysterious organic matter. The variety of missions to do, and difficulty modifiers such as Swarmaggedon keep the game feeling fresh and engaging.

Going it solo? Fear not. They have got you covered. The corporation provides you with a friendly buddy bot named Bosco. This handy little guy will mine on your command while also assisting with putting down those disgusting bugs.

Deep Rock Galactic is an immensely fun, fresh take on a first-person shooter that will keep you and your friends coming back time and time again.

Give Deep Rock Galactic a try. You won’t regret it!
