ANDELA BOOTCAMP DAY 1 : CREATE YUMMY RECIPES WEBAPP WITH PIVOTAL TRACKER P.M.S

Let me fill you in on what I have been doing today. It’s the Andela Week 1 Bootcamp Day 1.

First of all, internet was slow. It’s like Mr. Internet was caught in a hustle with Chuck Norris and we all know how that ends. Anyway, let me get to business before …

There is something about documentation. Something magical that I’ve experienced it today so keenly I just had to write about. Ever developed software and at the beginning you were like, “Ah! This is easy stuff, give me three days I’ll be through.” Well, two weeks later you are still slapping away at your keyboard to fix a bug which came out of ‘nowhere’. We all have passed through that experience quite many times.

Until, someone came along and told you “PLAN before you EXECUTE”. Honestly, ego gets into the way when a programmer is told “look before you leap”. But Andela has put me through a process which at first I thought was not needful. Now I realise that planning before doing has made me more productive.

Well as for me, I used Pivotal tracker found here https://www.pivotaltracker.com

It is a project management tool that helps you break down tasks into small bits and accomplish them one by one in order of priority. These tasks are called stories. Here is a screenshots of my story for the Yummy recipes Profile

PIVOTAL PROJECT COMPLETE

Tracking my progress and planning beforehand helped to complete the project in a ridiculously fast pace. I think the best thing I have learned today is that you should not always stick to old methodologies that don’t work if there is a new one that works better.
