I don’t believe this is correct. Copyright is a right to copy/distribute, not a right to use. If you legally distributed V1 of your app, and then file a lawsuit, you have to stop distributing V1 of your app. (And go write V2.) But you are not in violation if current users continue to use previously downloaded instances.
