Do you know that you can live a more meaningful life by knowing how to start and end your day? In today’s fast-paced world we sometimes get so caught up in our day-to-day responsibilities that we forget do the little things in life that could help us grow and give meaning to our lives.

Time is an asset. We know that already. Thankfully these rituals don’t require too much time so you have no excuses not doing them. Plus, they’re good for you.

Here are a few 10-minute rituals you can add to your daily routine:

  1. Journal Writing

It’s time to use that journal notebook you bought during the New Year but just left inside your drawer. If you don’t own one yet, do yourself a favor and buy one now at your nearest bookstore. What’s good about writing a journal is that it helps you reflect and focus on the things that matters most to you, chart your daily progress, and improve your well being. You don’t need to be a good writer to start or write about something very special each day. One of my favorite things to write about is what I am grateful for or just simply write a prayer and a pep talk to myself.

2. Watch inspiring videos

There are tons of online video content out there. If you want to get motivated and move ahead in life, or overcome your problems, watching inspiring videos at the start or end of your day is a wise thing to do. My personal favorite videos to watch are TED talks. They’re not only informative and educational, but it also leads you to new discoveries and teaches you to be open to new ideas and possibilities each day. SoulPancake also has excellent, entertaining, and heartwarming videos that can inspire you to have a more positive outlook in life.

3. Take a walk

It’s a well-known fact that walking does wonders to our bodies and overall health. But many people still choose to ignore this simple exercise. We normally spend most of our time sitting while working and hours laying down in bed when we sleep. Step outside and take a walk around your neighborhood, and while you’re at it be thankful that you are alive while you breathe fresh air. Observe your surroundings and find something beautiful. Need an energy and creative boost? Keep walking. Studies show walking increase mood stability and creative thinking.

4. Meditate

There are countless benefits of meditation for your mind, body, and spirit. A few of them are: sharpened focus, reduced stress and anxiety, better sleep, and increased self-awareness. You don’t have to sit like a monk in the middle of your room to meditate (unless you want to) if you are uncomfortable with it. You can just sit still, play relaxing tunes, clear your mind, and embrace peace for 10 minutes. If that’s not your idea of practising mindfulness, do some other alternatives to meditation like yoga or try color therapy by coloring books.
