the universe to continuously move further and further away from each other, causing the curvature of the extent to lessen, as the geometry of large-scale space became more and more flat.
How will the universe end?

If the curvature is flattening wouldn’t matter that had been moving apart in a rounded universe now be moving closer in one aspect? Like a balloon deflating, two aspects, say left/right and front/back would continue outward but up/down would move toward each other at the same rate?

Even if the matter in the up/down aspect continued moving “slipping the skin” toward the other two aspects matter would eventually recondense as more and more was pushed into a narrower and narrower aspect.
