Upvoting “best arguments” suggests popularity is a criterion of truth. History would suggest otherwise. We are probably partially mistaken about almost everything almost all the time, but a few, probably unpopular people, probably got things less wrong long before their ideas became popularly acceptable. Popularity is a dangerous criterion for judging ‘truth’, especially with the current fashion for ‘politics’ being all about managing popular sentiments and to hell with facts or laws.
