Marriages Need Humor

I wonder if all marriages have similar versions of the “Trolling” behavior your husband performs?

I hope so!

Because it sounds like he has a great sense of humor.

How awesome is that?

Marriages need humor in order to thrive. Husbands and wives can’t be serious all the time.

Being serious is exhausting!

On the other hand, the humor or “banter” that you and your husband have with each other is a form of intimacy that not all marriages have. It’s a combination of inside jokes and silent communication, both of which are wholly understood only by the two of you.

My husband and I share that intimacy. I saw the two of us in several of your examples, but with slightly different variations.

This is one of ours:

I’ll come home and see my husband is doing something — he may be working in the office, doing something on his computer, or in the kitchen cooking, but that’s all I know, so I’ll ask, “What are you doing?”

He’ll respond, “Swimming.”

When the situation is reversed and he’s the one asking what I’m doing, I turn the tables on him.
