“Societal standards”

“look how shameless is that guy wearing makeup”, “look at that girl, how dark!”. We come across such phrases or ultimate judgemental sentences in India, creating boundaries for the freedom of a person who are not part of their lives!.I came across a meme pointing towards a random Muslim girl who don’t want to wear burkha. It says “ she thinks burkha doesn’t give her freedom, but she doesn’t get that she is loosing her safety” . I mean it’s her personal decision that she don’t want it. One can’t force to follow the religious rules if the other don’t want to accept it. It’s not true that girl with burkha doesn’t face situations in which she doesn’t feel unsafe.

It is a societal standard that everyone wants to match!. I call it myth instead of “ societal standard” . The other day I was watching TEDx talks. The speaker was mithila palkar one sentence she said blowed my mind “ don’t bend your knees for societal standards”. Finally I want to say is there are no societal standards if we think they are not!.

Aapka pyaara,

Shree♥️
