Design Case Study: Patagonia Chacabuco 32L Pack

The Patagonia Chacabuco 32L Pack is an amazing backpack. It looks aesthetically nice and it functions well as a day pack or a laptop backpack.

However, one design flaw I noticed while using the backpack is that the top handle strap is too thin and could not support a lot of weight as you could see in this picture:

With my old Amazon day pack, it had a sturdy top handle strap. With the Chacabuco backpack, I am afraid to hold it by the handle because I have seen other reviewers mention that it is weak and because I don’t want it to fall off.

While it is a minor detail for a great overall backpack, I believe Patagonia could do a lot better with future improvements.
