Why I Decided To Learn How To Code

Coding is something that I thought I could never do. In the back of my mind, I had always felt that learning to build the web was something beyond what I could know. The story that often played in my head was, “I am not smart enough” or “I don’t have the technical skills.”

However, while learning UX Design, I learned that it is amazing to be able to know that whatever I designed could be real through coding.

Once I realized this importance, the resources were numerous. Youtube videos, Lynda.com, online resources, books, and more.

Learning how to write my first “Hello World” wad exciting. I was putting into reality the words I typed on my computer. There were moments when I gave up, html and css did not make sense, elements kept on collapsing between or on top of each other.

However, somehow I was able to stick through and now I am continuously learning. Learning how to code now feels like a video game for me. If a snippet of code does not work, I want to figure out how to make it work. If I get a part of my design to work without the elements collapsing on each other, it is ecstatic.

Right now I am learning how to use flex-box in order to make responsive websites. I am also learning how to write functions on a basic level through J-Query.

I think my coding journey ahead is exciting. I am so thankful at this moment in life that I could devote myself to studying something that is challenging but also rewarding. I am thankful that I could design things that would eventually become a reality through coding.
