Below you will find the complete lyrics to the song JUST FOR FUN and its meaning. Then I will post an image. After the image will be an analytical lyrical (analyrical) analysis of the song with some additional commentary. Her lyrics will be in bold in the second section, and the commentary will look unbolded like this.

Lyrics:
[Verse 1: Beyoncé]
I’m goin’ all out just for fun, I am the man, I know it
And everywhere I go, they know my name
So I laugh and I lie and the coyotes cry
And, uh, time moves quickly and so do I, so do I
So I’ll say my goodbye

[Pre-Chorus: Beyoncé]
’Cause time heals everything
I don’t need anything
Hallelujah
I pray to her

[Chorus: Beyoncé]
Here’s to hoping I’ll fall fast asleep tonight
And I’ll just need to get through this
Born in the darkness, who brings the light?
And I just, I need to get through this
Or just get used to it

[Verse 2: Willie Jones, Beyoncé, Beyoncé & Willie Jones]
I’m goin’ down south just for fun, I am the man, I know it
And everywhere I go, I hide my face
From the cowboys in Clovis and the rodeo circus
I came here for a reason, but I don’t know the purpose
It’s all under the surface

[Pre-Chorus: Beyoncé & Willie Jones]
But time heals everything
I don’t need anything
Hallelujah
I pray to her

[Chorus: Beyoncé]
Here’s to hoping I’ll fall fast asleep tonight
And I’ll just need to get through this
Born in the darkness, who brings the light?
And I just, I need to get through this
Or just get used to it

[Outro: Beyoncé]
’Cause time heals everything
I don’t need anything
Hallelujah
I pray to her
I pray to her

[Verse 1: Beyoncé]

I’m goin’ all out just for fun, I am the man, I know it

And everywhere I go, they know my name

So I laugh and I lie and the coyotes cry

And, uh, time moves quickly and so do I, so do I

So I’ll say my goodbye

Let’s introduce Willie Jones. “Willie Jones is an American country music singer and a former contestant on The X Factor. Jones was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on September 23, 1994, the son of a preacher. He is a graduate of Green Oaks Performing Arts Academy in Shreveport. He learned to sing in his church choir and appeared in musicals at school.”

I believe she’s talking about her music and her mission. She does it all just for fun because she’s at this point in her career where she can. After all she is: the man, the queen, and Beyonce. And she’s aware.

She expresses how she is just trying to push through life. She laughs insincerely, and the coyotes cry in response. I assume the current country landscape may the coyotes.

Time flies when you’re having fun, and life is passing by quickly as well since she’s having fun. And I believe she’s trying to have as much fun as possible, to hurry up and “finish” living and say goodbye.

[Pre-Chorus: Beyoncé]

’Cause time heals everything

I don’t need anything

Hallelujah

I pray to her

I believe she’s “praying” to herself. This word comes “from Old French preier, from late Latin precare, alteration of Latin precari ‘entreat’.” When you entreat someone you “ask someone earnestly or anxiously to do something.”

So in this case, she states that she needs nothing, yet she prays. I think Beyonce is letting us into a conversation with herself since she doesn’t need anything from anyone else. She needs to be strong for herself and encourage herself.

[Chorus: Beyoncé]

Here’s to hoping I’ll fall fast asleep tonight

And I’ll just need to get through this

Born in the darkness, who brings the light?

And I just, I need to get through this

Or just get used to it

She initiates a salute to hoping she can sleep. She’s always awake (if you’ve seen how she rehearses then you get it).

There’s no one who she sees as a savior, so her options are to persevere or get comfortable with the current situation.

We all know what the south is associated with, and it’s the home of Beyonce and Willie. So they’re going back home just for fun.

He’s the man yet he has to hide his face. In comparison to Beyonce sho cannot hide because everyone recognizes her. Willie is hiding from something else. He’s hiding, from what I believe is racism. If you google “Clovis racism” you’ll understand why”.

He’s still trying to discover his purpose in the south.

[Pre-Chorus: Beyoncé & Willie Jones]

But time heals everything

I don’t need anything

Hallelujah

I pray to her

Nothing to add

[Chorus: Beyoncé]

Here’s to hoping I’ll fall fast asleep tonight

And I’ll just need to get through this

Born in the darkness, who brings the light?

And I just, I need to get through this

Or just get used to it

Nothing to add

[Outro: Beyoncé]

’Cause time heals everything

I don’t need anything

Hallelujah

I pray to her

I pray to her

So the question is why JUST FOR FUN? It would make sense that she does what she does just for fun.

It reminds me of the concept that God is a woman. And when God creates he does it “just for fun” because he doesn’t need anything from anyone.

She’s reached this point in her career where she’s like a God. And being a human-God is really hard.

Anywho. I’m Kevan. See you guys at the Beyonce concert! HMU
