Cree Connected bulbs are only $14.97 and work with the Phillips Hue system. I purchased two of these bulbs to test and they work seamlessly. They provide an attractive soft white light (2700K) and are very bright (815 Lumens).

Phillips has also recently dropped the price of the Hue Lux LED bulb to $20 making it competitive with the Cree Connected. The Lux has a slightly lower maximum brightness than the Cree (750 lumens vs 815) but they are both brighter than the Hue multicolor bulbs (max 600 lumens) that many smartbulb households are accustomed to. It is available at Amazon, Apple, and Best Buy.
