History

Ace Office Furniture Houston was founded by a father and son duo, Ace A. Astala, a former President of the Board of Directors of the American School of Gas Measurement Technology who retired from the gas industry in 2015, and Kevin Astala, a Who’s Who organization inductee; and their wives, Linda Astala and Shauna Astala.

The company began with an auction purchase of a small amount of used furniture in September 2008. In 2015, after a subsequent auction purchase of a much larger amount of used office furniture, Ace Astala formed Ace Office Furniture Houston LLC (AOF Houston) to sell used furniture to the public. Within a year, AOF Houston’s focus changed to sales of new office furniture when Ace and Kevin began forming contractual arrangements with well-known vendors of new office furniture.

In the following two years of operation, Ace Office Furniture Houston was presented with an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau. The company evolved from a small, family-owned business to a full-service commercial office furniture store with a showroom sales force providing strategic planning professional expertise to our clients in the architecture and design (A&D) community, end-user, government, and education markets.

By 2019, the company had begun to outgrow its original location and was searching for a new location when the Covid pandemic began in early 2020. Ace Office Furniture Houston leased the property once occupied by ITT Institute of Technology (ITT-Tech.) and renovated the new space to include a new furniture showroom, pre-owned and demo furniture showroom, offices, and woodshop.. Purchases of delivery equipment, including a trailer, a high-profile van, and a box truck added capacity and flexibility.

In 2021 Ace Office Furniture started a sister company called Live Edge Houston Texas, which manufactures custom tables, desks, and other furniture from eco-friendly-sourced wood worldwide. Each piece of wood is hand-selected, ensuring the quality of the furniture, and is hand-crafted using traditional woodworking techniques to bring out the natural wood grain. Live Edge Houston’s tables are available in various kinds of wood, including walnut, maple, and oak.

Philanthropy

Ace Office Furniture supports several local non-profits, including The 1960 Hope Center. and donated much of the furnishings for the renovated day center for those experiencing homelessness in the northwest Houston and Cypress Creek Parkway area. It also donated funds to help provide t-shirts for all volunteers participating in the local area Thanksgiving feast.

Since Hurricane Harvey, Ace Office Furniture has continued offering discounts for disaster victims, individuals, and businesses and have contacted previous customers to check on their needs. Many of the projects were small family-owned businesses, but others were larger projects, such as Northgate Country Club,

Ace Office Furniture, AOF, provides discounts for active military, first responders, and veterans of military service. They have donated furniture to the nonprofit Veterans Stand Together, and this ongoing relationship has provided an opportunity for further outreach.

Since 2019, the company has been a regular Buyer at the Klein Independent School District’s Livestock and Project Show, including purchasing the Reserve Grand Champion Horticulture Project in 2020 and several livestock projects.

Some employees are active volunteers for The Vine Mentoring Program in the Spring Independent School District.
