I agree with the basic premise of reaching out to different sides of the “conversation,” but, I kind of agree that Charles Barkley isn’t really qualified to make a dent in the issue. He’s well-intentioned, no doubt, and he probably has more insight into the issue than this article gives him credit for, but he’s a basketball player and occasional social pundit.

Off the top of my head, I can think of a bunch of people who would be able to do it. David Simon comes to mind, given that The Wire is known for humanizing these very different worlds (I’ve only seen a few episodes, so I’m going on reputation). The people behind The People Vs. O.J. Simpson did something similar (again, didn’t watch it myself). Honestly, I feel like even Dave Chapelle or Chris Rock could do a better job, especially since they both seem to genuinely travel in between both the white and black “worlds.” Or maybe someone like Ryan Coogler.
