Personally, I thought the larger point was that the organization needs to make good decisions if they want to keep him. It makes sense — it’s one thing to stay on a small-market team that’s well-run (OKC, San Antonio, even a team like Indiana or Toronto). It’s another if you’re small-market and poorly run (Sacramento, New Orleans, to a lesser extent Orlando).
People keep talking about the Lebron playbook — basically using your free agent leverage to convince the team to do what it takes to compete. Giannis could be taking a page from it.
