No. Complex Adaptive Systems are not
Complex adaptive systems are comprised of many independent agents competing over resources, where all agents have varying strategies, have the capacity for adaptation, and are subject to naturally selective pressures.
Complex Adaptive Systems are many independent agents working together cooperatively to solve a group problem by finding the best (lowest cost, highest utility) way for the group to fit into its environment. A Hive of Bees is a complex adaptive system and bees do not compete over resources. They work together to make the best use of the resources available to them.
