I see the point being made here but I am not sure it is as simple as taking down the statues and monuments. However if it relieves some tension and serves to give those feeling oppressed a sense of victory I say remove them. The bigger problem I see however is this appears to be more of a temper tantrum from the left and I firmly believe this is only the beginning of what is to come. Today its the statues and monuments, tomorrow it is any literature that does not align with their narrative and ultimately I could see our very constitution being removed, all under the pretence that it somehow represents something offending to someone.

I mean, if these statues and monuments are so terrible (and I am not saying they might be right) why are we just now having this conversation? Most of these have been in place for the better part of 150+ years. Why now, why are we just now offended by them? Seems to me there is a more sinister plan under foot and I see many ways to vindicate those that feel oppressed and the removal of inanimate objects is not going to satisfy their lust for vindication. If we are not very careful this is going to spiral out of control and honestly it is there already, and while the talking points have merit I think a serious discussion needs to be had about how to resolve this. Taking these monuments down in the middle of the night serves no purpose that makes sense to me!
