Voice-Changing G.O.A.T.: Heath Ledger

For all the accolades Health Ledger has been honored with, and undoubtedly well-deserved, people often overlook his greatest skill: changing his voice. It tends to be a forgotten talent taken for granted; however, Heath Ledger is by far the best we’ve ever seen. Whether he’s playing a psychopathic killer, a Southern hick, or a Venice Beach surfer bum, he’s shown his breadth of skill. All this while having a thick Australian accent!

Here is just a sample of his greatest work, in regards to altering his voice to fit the part:

The Dark Knight, 2008

10 Things I Hate About You, 1999

Lords of Dogtown, 2005

Casanova, 2005

Brokeback Mountain, 2005

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, 2009

The Brothers Grim, 2005

Three things I realized after compiling this clips from YouTube:

1. Wow, it’s incredible how he’s done all this work while having an accent like Steve Irwin
2. His movie selection process is questionable
3. He had one hell of a year in 2005

It’s unfortunate they don’t have an acting Hall of Fame because Ledger and his voice-changing skills would surely be worthy.
