50 Irish boxing heads are asked three questions about Mayweather v McGregor.
One: Who do you want to win? Two: Who will win? Three: Is it good, or bad, for boxing?
The responses show a host of disparate views, from those who can’t wait for August 26 to come to those who believe it’s an abomination. There’s also a call-out.
Counted among the figures surveyed are amateur and professional boxers in and around the light-middleweight division, trainers and fighters, current and former ones.
Many feel the same — that patriotism makes them lean towards the Crumlin MMA sensation — both several others feel a strong loyalty to their sport, and thus want his temerity to challenge one of its greatest proponents to be severely punished.
Several others are friendly with McGregor, knew him as an amateur and have met or worked with him in the years since, and naturally want the Irishman to do well.
Age is another factor. It was noticeable that with younger fighters, there is far more fandom towards McGregor and his brand of business, and the appreciation appears to fade for those boxing men who are no longer taking part in combat.
But there are very few boxing people tipping the Dubliner to actually pull it off, with a number agreeing with this writer — that McGregor managing to complete the 12 rounds, on his pro debut against one of the best fighters of the last 25 years, would be a monumental achievement.
Paddy Barnes (three-time Olympian, twice a medallist, now 3–0 in the pro ranks as a flyweight)
“I want McGregor to win the fight as I think Mayweather is an asshole. I thought the same of McGregor until I met him and he’s a really nice guy. Mayweather will win, he’s a master boxer. It’s not good nor bad for boxing, after this event boxing will still carry on like it always does, professional boxing is entertainment and this is exactly that.”
Kurt Walker (Tokyo 2020 hopeful, Irish 56kg champ, recent European medallist)
“I want McGregor to win. Mayweather used to be my favourite boxer but I’ve changed sides, if McGregor wins it will start chaos. I’m 100 per cent sure Mayweather will win though, he is the greatest boxer on the planet and when it all comes down to it, they are two different sports. I think it could be bad for boxing because a lot of stars from other sports might try and pull a move like McGregor has. The last thing boxing not needs is the sport to turn out like wrestling. In saying that, If I could pull off what McGregor has I’d be laughing. He’s sorted for life.”
Jason Quigley (middleweight pro with Golden Boy, 13–0, Euro & World medallist, has hung out with McGregor, could arguably make 154lb)
“I want McGregor to win and win he will by devastating KO. It’s the biggest fight ever, generating the most money ever, how is this not good for the sport? It’s one of the most talked-about fights ever, this makes boxing massive and so it is with AJ-Klitschko , McGregor-Mayweather then the fight of the decade, GGG-Canelo. Boxing is booming.”
Michael Conlan (super-bantamweight pro with Top Rank, 3–0, won every major medal in amateurs as Ireland’s first male WC champ, friendly with McGregor and walked to ring on his debut by ‘The Notorious’)
“I want my fellow Irishman to win, McGregor! As much as my heart is telling me Conor, my head thinks Floyd. I really hope I’m wrong. I think it’s great for both boxing, MMA and sport in general. Probably one of, if not the biggest combat sports event of our generation.”
Eric Donovan (4–0 pro, respected pundit)
“Irish people have a history of rooting for the underdog. Conor is the underdog here, but I don’t really care who wins this to be honest. I am curious though to see what happens. When it comes to boxing, I’m a realist and not a fantasist in this one. So Money May all day, it could turn embarrassing for McGregor but he’s lucky Mayweather doesn’t have concussive power at least, then he can try to march forward to try and rough him up on the ropes and in corners. Don’t think it will affect boxing or the UFC, it’s just an exhibition event under boxing rules.”
Henry Coyle (19–2 light-middleweight pro, inactive since 2013, US-based)
“I want Mayweather to win because I don’t like to see my sport disrespected. Fair Play To McGregor because he’s one of us but he wins either way with the cheque he is getting. Good on him, but I want Mayweather to win for boxing, the sport I love. Mayweather will win, too. It’s great for combat sports and boxing to be in the news and talked about like it is. If McGregor wins I will eat my shirt — like Pat Spillane said about the prospect of either Mayo or Roscommon winning the All-Ireland after the drawn game.”
Con Sheehan (6–0 heavyweight)
“I want McGregor to win because he’s Irish but it’s not gonna happen. Mayweather will stop him on his feet. It’s brilliant for boxing, could bring in a few casuals to the sport. More the merrier and all that.”
John Joe Nevin (8–0 lightweight, won every amateur medal)
“I’d love to see McGregor win, it would be great for the Irish nation. But I do think Mayweather will win it, he’s got too much class and I can’t see Conor going six rounds. Good or bad for boxing? I’m not too sure. I think there would have been a better and tougher fight out there for Mayweather if he wanted to beat Marciano’s record — like Triple G.”
Phil Sutcliffe Jr (13–2 light-welterweight, boxed with McGregor as an amateur at Crumlin BC, where his dad Phil Sr is head coach)
“I want Conor to win of course. I’m hoping it will be Conor. Why is it bad for boxing? Any boxer would give anything to be in his place and fight one of the greatest in boxing sporting history of his time. That’s what any fighter sets out to do make his mark in history. Like I say, if the boxers put their feet in his shoes, I’m sure they would say different.”
Tyrone McKenna (14–0 light-welterweight)
“I love McGregor and am a big fan of his but he’s come into the sport of boxing to try and make a mockery of it so I want Mayweather to put him in his place. I’m not even a Floyd fan, but he needs to KO Conor to prove MMA has no place in our sport. I believe Floyd will barely get touched and the ref will save Conor in the seventh or eigtht because he’ll be exhausted with being new to the 12 rounds. I think it isn’t bad for boxing as long as Floyd batters him — which I think will happen.”
Peter Fury (trainer to former world heavyweight champ Tyson, and challenger Hughie)
“Mayweather will win by KO. Why? He’s a boxer and the other guy is not. Who do I want to win? Makes no difference to me. Is it bad for boxing? It’s a joke fight to boxing purists and good for Joe Public.”
Glenn McCrory (ex-cruiserweight world champ, respected pundit, now coaching in Ireland’s north west)
“I think it’s a scam, money-making joke! Mayweather will play with him and MCGregor gets disqualified for trying to choke Floyd out. The fans will blame boxing as crooked. It’s a pantomime but Conor and Floyd will be happy enough and good luck to them! The fans lose though and boxing loses, just when it was all so, so good. The mega fight, Canelo v GGG, is what everyone should be talking about. Sky PPV are gonna shoot themselves in their greedy asses.”
Jamie Conlan (19–0 super-flyweight, was alongside McGregor for brother Michael’s debut)
“I want McGregor to win, I’m a huge fan of what he’s achieved and his positive attitude towards his craft. Sorry to say I think Mayweather will win though. It depends on the way you look at the ‘event’. Boxing is daily news again, it’s talked about everywhere you go, it’s generated scary numbers in sponsorship and endorsements which shows the sport is alive and well, people are intrigued to see how an MMA fighter will get on against a boxer in a boxing match, but the flip side of that coin is that this is a 0-fight novice boxer with little-to-no amateur boxing experience fighting a retired fighter who hasn’t thrown a punch in two years. But is arguably the best fighter in the last decade. Legally, how can they sanction this never mind call it the biggest fight ever? I’m intrigued how it plays out and will be tuning in.”
Gary Hyde (manager, promoter, Nowhere2Hyde Promotions)
“I want McGregor to KO Mayweather. I don’t think he has a hope in hell. Boxing is twisted anyway and people don’t even know the half of what goes on. Fighters are built up one minute most promoters use weak opponents when building up fighters and just trick the public. This fight is good for sport and will be entertaining. I can’t wait to watch it. I admire McGregor for everything he’s done. I just wish I had a fighter like him.”
Adam Nolan (five-time Irish amateur welterweight champ, 2012 Olympian)
“I want Conor to win but it would be very bad for pro boxing if he did. For someone to switch sports like he is, and to win against a boxer like Floyd, wouldn’t do much for the future of boxing. Having said that, I think Floyd will win comprehensively but I do think it will go 12 rounds.”
Steven Donnelly (ex-Irish welterweight champ, 2016 Olympian)
“Floyd is my favourite boxer but Irish back the Irish and I want to see Conor win. But he just won’t as Floyd just doesn’t lose. But who knows with McGregor, he can turn water into wine if he put his mind to it and he’s certainly putting in the work. I think it’s good for boxing overall, interesting, but yea only one winner.”
Connor Coyle (5–0 middleweight pro, could arguably make 154)
“As a fellow Irishman, I would always back an Irishman to win. But this has started to be a little bit of a circus. I think Conor has disrespected the art of boxing, saying that it’s not even a proper fight. Boxing is boxing, and it has a lot of skills to it, it’s a smart sport! It will definitely be bad for boxing if Conor knocks out Mayweather, and I say knocked out because he won’t go the distance either way. If he wins, the boxing world will never hear the end of it, a UFC fighter beat one of boxing’s greatest fighters. But all that aside, I’m still excited to watch the fight. I’m interested in seeing how Conor will come out, and what kind of stance or style he will try and use. I still wish him luck, he’s made it for life no matter the outcome.”
Eddie Bolger (former Irish amateur coach, now in charge of Germany)
“I want Mayweather to win and put on an exhibition of boxing. I am sure am sure Mayweather will win the arrangement. McGregor will benefit the most from the arrangement and I hope the celebs who paid get value for money. I don’t think it has anything to do with boxing so will have little impact on it.”
Ray Moylette (5–0 light-welterweight, ex Euro, World Junior amateur champ, team-mate of Celtic Warriors gym-mates who have sparred with McGregor)
“I’m a Mayweather fan and I would love to see him give McGregor a boxing lesson. Not because it’s Conor McGregor but it’s boxing against MMA. As I’m a professional boxer and I served my time in the amateurs learning my trade. I’m a bit disappointed that Mayweather sold out and agreed to the fight. It just makes a mockery of both sports and puts it all down to money. Don’t get me wrong, of course ultimately that’s why we are all in the game but for Mayweather, the richest sports star of all time, to sell out and offer someone a fight on the biggest stage without them having to earn their way through the boxing ranks is disappointing. The whole event is a shambles — from the press conferences to the actual fight. I have great respect for both men in their desired field but stay in your discipline and lead the way for future generations with your hard work and modesty — not your big mouth and greedy lifestyle.”
Paul McCloskey (one-time world title challenger, European champ)
“I’m a Mayweather fan but I really like what Conor has done in a short space of time in his own career. I couldn’t back against a fellow country man, so I’m going with Conor. The fact the fight is totally based on boxing rules, I can’t see how Conor can pull it off as Floyd is a phenomenal counter puncher. Going the 12-round distance is something Conor has never done before. It takes full-time professional fighters a few years before they build and adapt to the 12-round distance. I think Floyd will win and unless he wins in style by KO or something spectacular, it will be a disappointment from him. I don’t think it really has any impact on the current boxing world as Floyd’s coming out of about two years’ retirement to make a ridiculous amount of money. So I don’t see the whole extravaganza really impacting the boxing world.”
John Joe Joyce (decorated Irish amateur, now a coach, 2008 Olympian)
“I like to see the Irish lads, no matter what sport, winning — but this time its boxing vs MMA and if McGregor won, where does that leave boxing? A pro having his first fight beating the best pound-for-pound boxer? It wouldn’t be good for boxing so I guess I want I want Mayweather to win. Mayweather to win by late stoppage, or an easy win on points. Good for both boxers making millions I think boxing fans are all thinking the same thing. Plus the press conference was a circus, both lads swearing and talking crap — it was like WWE all over.”
Niall Kennedy (8–0 heavyweight, member of Celtic Warriors Gym which McGregor has frequented for boxing sparring during his MMA career)
“I hope Conor wins the fight as he is a proud Irishman and John Kavanagh is a gent. I think Mayweather is just oto clever, and no disrespect to Conor because he is an animal, but Mayweather has beaten the best there is in boxing — Canelo, De La hoya, Pacman, the list goes on — I think Floyd is just that bit too clever. It’s good for boxing, it has the whole world talking, whether they like it or not they are all interested in it and I bet it will break records with PPV. So a proud Irishman fighting in my opinion the best boxer of my lifetime, it can’t have a negative.”
Ross Enamait (trainer to Katie Taylor, author)
“Who do you want to win the fight? I hope the fans win by seeing two fighters take the fight seriously with the intention of knocking each other out. Many from the boxing community see this fight as a joke, so let’s hope we can at least be entertained with a real fight. Who will win the fight? Floyd Mayweather wins however he wants to win. Hopefully he doesn’t just cruise to a decision. I’d rather see him look for the stoppage, like how he went after the late Diego Corrales. Is it good/bad for boxing? Any event that attracts this much attention is good for the sport. People who don’t follow boxing will be watching boxing. How can that be bad? I just hope that some tune in for more than just the main event. Gervonta Davis will surely put on a show in his undercard bout.”
Darragh Foley (12–2 Aussie-based light-welterweight)
“I want McGregor, to win it’s very hard to root for Mayweather he is a shit human being. Mayweather will win, unless his boxing skills have greatly diminished since his last ring return which is quite possible. In boxing you can get old overnight. Good for them. As for boxing, I don’t know. It raises the sport’s profile I guess, but it would have been nice to see some Irish talent on the card.”
Dean Walsh (current Irish welterweight champ)
“I would like to see Conor McGregor win this fight. First of all he’s Irish a great athlete and every Irish person will be in his corner that night. I think Floyd will win handy enough in the end but in saying that, as a boxer and from experience and every other boxer can tell you this, soon as the bell goes anything can happen. It’s great for boxing and for both sports. It’s going to be the greatest sporting event in our era.”
Christina McMahon (world title challenger, won WBC interim title on the night Mayweather beat Pacquiao)
“I want McGregor to win as he’s Irish. Will he win? Unless it’s a set-up, NO. We both know the game and that anything can happen. It’s silly stuff though, it’s not about boxing — it’s about money. It does nothing for either sport, just two people shouting ignorance at each other. I switched off during the press conferences. Neither had good wit. The question is, would I want my child telling the principal to f*** off, and pride themselves on bad manners?”
Joe Ward (three-time Euro amateur light-heavyweight champ, 2016 Olympian)
“I would like to see McGregor winning, he is great for sport. I think Floyd Mayweather will win though, too match boxing ability and I think it’s a mismatch in the boxing ring. It will be very bad for boxing if McGregor wins the fight. I don’t think you can compare a boxer to a UFC fighter. I never even heard of UFC until McGregor came along.”
Steve Collins Jr (10–1–1 light-heavyweight, Celtic Warriors Gym member, has crossed over from rugby to be a boxer)
“I want Mayweather to win the fight as he deserves to win. Don’t get me wrong, McGregor has done well for himself from a business point of view to get himself involved in a fight with such magnitude but he doesn’t deserve to be in the with him. There are guys who bust their asses every day to get such a chance but because of the world we live in now, hype and money have more pull for decision-making. It’s good for boxing as it pulls in the casual fans and may spark more interest for our sport. But if McGregor somehow wins, it will take away from it also.”
Jim Rock (four-weight Irish pro champ, respected pundit)
“As an Irishman I would love Conor to win. As an intelligent man Floyd wins. It’s bad for boxing from a boxing point of view but great business sense from McGregor. Boxers fight for years and never get an opportunity like this so a lot are not happy about it but many are jealous that someone has gatecrashed the ratings and landed such a mouthwatering, shit load of cash.”
Patrick Hyland (world title challenger, now retired, has sparred McGregor)
“I want Conor to win as he’s an Irishman and I back all fighting Irishmen. I don’t want Mayweather to get that 50–0 record! I would love a KO by McGregor and if it goes to points, it’ll be a Mayweather win. I don’t see it good or bad for boxing at all. I just see it as a fight.”
Paschal Collins (head trainer at Celtic Warriors Gym, overseen numerous McGregor sparring sessions with his boxers)
“I obviously want McGregor to win, due to the fact that I know him personally and he has trained at my gym, plus his trainers John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy are both friends too. I’m hoping for the Irish win. If Mayweather turns up in shape and the years have been good to him, then I would have to go with him for the win, however what McGregor lacks as a boxer he will make up for with a drive to win and determination and everybody knows he will turn up in excellent condition. And to echo Chris Eubank’s statement, never under-estimate an Irishman. I think the fight is good for both boxing & MMA, any attention that is being brought to these sports in a good light is good for business, However if Mayweather wins then it’s better for boxing. On the flip side, if McGregor wins then it is better for MMA! But whatever the outcome, it’s been an interesting build-up.”
John Breen (trainer of world champs Dave McAuley, Paul Hodgkinson, still active)
“I want Mayweather to win. Who’ll win? Mayweather! It’s not good for boxing. McGregor wouldn’t win an Irish title never mind beating the best professional in the world. It’s not good for professional boxing. It’s a joke of a contest. If Mayweather doesn’t want to be hit then he won’t be hit.”
Seamus McDonagh (ex-pro who fought Evander Holyfield)
“Mayweather will probably win. I want Conor to win. It’s great for boxing.
Cheyanne ‘Chaz’ O’Neill (European medallist, former Irish female champ)
“Being Irish, I want every Irish athlete in every sport to do well. McGregor has very little boxing behind him yet he wants to come up against a boxing brain Floyd Mayweather. People can say what they like about Mayweather but his boxing record — professional and amateur — speaks for itself. An Olympian and over 80 fights in the amateurs, undefeated in professional boxing, 15 times world champion in four different weight classes. As far as I know, McGregor lost in the Irish intermediates and went on to become a star in UFC. So Mayweather should and will win the fight, based on skill and experience. He has the ability to do it with one hand in my opinion. I think it is very bad for boxing. It’s making a mockery to the sport. McGregor’s 100 per cent good at his game, UFC, not boxing. It’s all about the money. It’s a shame this fight is going ahead. A lot of people seem to think Mayweather is going to give away his 0 to McGregor for a rematch for more money but I don’t think he would ruin his perfect record for an amateur when the best in the world could not beat him.”
Martin Rogan (16–6 heavyweight, former Prizefighter champ)
“I am Irish and always get behind the Irishman. But I do want to see the boxer win as it’s boxing. I’m confused about who wins the fight, there are a lot of things going on with them bot. Will Mayweather be allowed to win and break Rocky Maricano’s record by the mafia, or is it that Conor wins for a bigger blockbuster of money for rematch? Either way, honestly Floyd should may toy with him and make him look silly and then drop him. It’s not good for boxing if he gets beat, also it is simply disgraceful to think you don’t have to climb the ladder in the ranks to get there. If you have money you can walk straight in, it’s insulting to boxers trying all their lives. But it’s simply entertainment. If I was getting the chance, I’d do it — so would anyone. Best of luck to both men, I hope they both leave the ring safely. PS if McGregor fancies it with me, no problem. I will go to his Octagon no problem and throw him about like a wet lettuce in a burger van.”
Tony Dunlop (trainer of several Irish prospects)
“I want McGregor put in his place, on the canvas, but if he proved me wrong and won early, I’d be intrigued. Mayweather will knock him out early. It’s good for both sports now but bad for the boxers who were great and never got their just rewards.”
Kenneth Egan (2008 Olympic silver medallist, 11-time Irish amateur champ, has had Twitter run-in with McGregor of merits of their sports)
“Mayweather and Mayweather! And it’s good for boxing — it will show the levels involved.”
Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan (25–2 middleweight, has sparred McGregor at Celtic Warriors Gym)
“I want Conor to win the fight via KO. I think Mayweather by late TKO is most likely. I think it’s a very good thing, it’s dragging a major spotlight on the sport of boxing which can only be a good thing for our sport with everybody talking about this fight.”
Declan Geraghty (15–2 super-featherweight, has sparred McGregor as a pro, former Crumlin BC fighter)
“I want Conor to win, first of all you can tell he is the people’s champion! I haven’t seen anyone loved like him since Ricky Hatton and it even makes it better that he is one of our own. I believe it’s a very, very difficult fight for Conor but he has a unique style what you cannot train for and also he has that tunnel vision, once he truly believes it he will achieve it. So I believe anything can happen fight night. I believe it’s good for boxing because it’s capturing not only the boxing fans but the world itself. It is a money fight and I do believe it will break all pay-per-view records.”
Jono Carroll (14–0 super-featherweight, former Prizefighter champ)
“Of course I want my fellow Irishman to win the fight but I can only see one winner here, let’s be honest. But regardless of whether it’s a win, loss or a drawm my man McGregor is getting 100 million for one night’s work. So he already has won in my eyes. And I don’t care what people say if it’s good or bad for boxing. First of all boxing is all about entertainment. And half the time no one even cares about the fights, it’s all about the build-up. And it’s been funny so far, with a lot of entertainment. So who cares? All I can say is a fella who was on the dole a few years back is now fighting for a 100 million. So in my eyes he’s already won in life. It’s just another fight to him. One night. Who cares about the outcome? McGregor has nothing to lose. Even if he just does kinda well, people will praise him. And no one listens to the haters because they’re laughing all the way to the bank.”
Willie McLaughlin (former Irish amateur welterweight champ)
“I would want the Irishman McGregor to win because he’s Irish — for that only reason. The Money man will win the fight but it could almost go six rounds. It’s not good for boxing if McGregor wins the fight, or even if it goes to eight or nine rounds. There’s amateur fighters in Ireland who would beat McGregor. But fair play to him for doing what he’s doing, making money, that’s what it’s about at the end of the day. If McGregor comes close, every boxer should turn over to UFC because that’s why McGregor is so good at what he does. But he hasn’t enough skills for boxing.”
Matthew Macklin (ex-European middleweight champ, respected pundit, manager)
“I’d like Conor to win because he’s Irish and I ‘know’ him, have met him etc. But I think he has almost no chance of winning. I don’t think it’s bad for boxing. If it was happening on a regular basis then I’d say it was bad for boxing but as one-off, which I’m sure this will be, then I don’t really see it as bad for boxing.”
Jonathan Graham (promoter at Red Corner Promotions)
“As a boxing fan first and foremost I want and expect Mayweather to win, if he doesn’t it makes a mockery of everything we think we know and expect from boxing. Mayweather will win, too. It’s obviously good in a way as it attracts non-boxing fans to the sport, it entices casuals again, and with the money involved it brings some sort of traction that can’t be all that bad. However, it’s bad in other ways as someone with relatively no boxing experience shouldn’t be licensed to fight for an Irish title never mind this generation’s best.”
Brendan Irvine (European medallist, 2016 Olympian)
“I want McGregor to win and if you’re from Ireland and don’t want him to win, there is something wrong with you. He’s flying the Irish flag high for the whole of Ireland. I honestly think Mayweather will win the fight as he is one of the best ever, if not THE best, but I do think McGregor could make it messy as nobody knows what he’s gonna do. It’s bad for boxing as there are a lot of boxers out there who would love that chance. Just because McGregor is a big name doesn’t mean he should get that opportunity.”
Lynn Harvey (4–1 flyweight pro, trained by Tommy McCormack, McGregor’s cutman)
“Who do I want to win? Well, I think us Irish should back our own, so I’d like Conor to pull something extraordinary out of the bag. Plus I think Mayweather is a despicable human, so it would be an extra bonus. I don’t look at this as affecting boxing because I don’t view it as a boxing fight. Conor is not a boxer. It’s just a fight between two men. Floyd will box and Conor will fight without kicking. It’s just a scrap.”
Eamonn Loughran (WBO world welterweight champ 1993–96)
“I’d love to see McGregor winning. But for Mayweather it’s an easy six rounds or it’s a disgrace on him and a fix. Is it good for boxing? No, they’re both smiling at the people and taking their money, then after it’s over people well see it’s a con job and say ‘I am never going to pay for boxing again’. Then what happens to the real fight in September, GGG v Canelo?”
Tyrone McCullagh (7–0 featherweight)
“Mayweather has to win or else boxing will look a joke. And Mayweather will win, it’ll be the easiest fight of his career. It’s a circus act but it’s got the whole world talking about it and the whole world will be tuning in. I don’t really think it’s good or bad for boxing.”
Leonard Gunning (manager, promoter, Boxing Ireland Promotions)
“For the sake of boxing I want to see a convincing Mayweather win. No matter if Floyd is the wrong side of 40 and been inactive I still can’t see past a landslide win for him and maybe even a late stoppage. Any other outcome in this panto would be a black day for boxing.”
Dee Walsh (12–0 pro now retired and working as a trainer, former BUI 154lb champion)
“I want Mayweather to win and although I don’t like him, Floyd will win no question. I think Mayweather will stop him, he’s cautious against world-class opposition but people forget how he fought in the lower weights against lesser opposition, he was knocking them out for fun. It’s only good for the sport if Mayweather stops him — other than that it could crush boxing.”
Roy Sheahan (former Irish amateur welterweight champion)
“First of all it’s a circus fight, a load of cow dung. I think each of them are brilliant at their own sports but they’re different. It’s too easy for Mayweather and it’s all just for money. Put it this way, if McGregor was in my weight in any of the 16 All-Irelands I won, he would be destroyed by me or most of the other lads that were in the weight. His stance is wrong, his hands are down when he punches, people make me laugh when they say ‘what if he catches him with the big left?’ It’s not the UFC where people just run into shots or try grab you. Mayweather will make a fool out of him. I would give McGregor a chance of one in a million and that one in a million is only if Mayweather gets diarrhoea and has to get out. But I would love to see that happen because I will always be behind the Irish. Mayweather is class, I love his skill-set, but he’s a dickhead too and I hope he gets that diarrhoea.”
